Digital Photography - Winter 2010

Rick owns Waller Productions, a Photography, Multimedia, and Computer company.
Rick has been in the Commercial Photography business for over 20 years as a principle in an Advertising Production Firm and owning his own company that produces Advertising Photography, Video, Multimedia, Brochures, and Web sites.

Rick is also a Business Software Trainer and credentialed Vocational Ed instructor and has taught Adult and Community Education classes and for the last 10 years.
Digital Photo Editing with the FREE Picassa software
Beginning level lecture / hands-on class.

Students will learn the terminology, technology, and nature of digital images. The instructor will familiarize students with the general settings and options found in many of today’s digital editing programs and imaging computers, with primary focus on Google’s Picassa on PCs. Included will be explanations of basic controls, connections, memory, storage requirements and image archiving. Students will download images from their digital cameras or bring digital images on a CD and then edit images using selection, crop, rotate, adjust lighting and color and compress images for E-mail and Web.

This course is a must for those just beginning the digital editing world and wanting to learn the basics on FREE software.

Your Digital Camera
& Digital Photography
If you are a beginning digital photo hobbyist who wants to learn how to use your personal digital camera and how to improve your people, travel and landscape photos, this friendly class is for you!

This is a beginning level class where you can comfortably learn the basic components of your digital camera, digital photography and basic digital imaging. Included will be explanations of basic and intermediate camera controls and techniques, composition and lighting, downloading and e-mailing, memory cards, printing, computer and storage requirements, and beginning digital imaging including cropping, rotating, enhancing and archiving.

You will take your own creative photos using different camera modes, resolutions, quality, and sensitivity controls. We will critique student photos weekly.

Digital Photo Imaging
If you are a digital photo hobbyist who wants to learn what to do with all your personal digital photos and how to improve those not-quite-so-perfect shots, this friendly class is for you!
This is a beginning level, hands-on class where you can comfortably learn the basic components of digital imaging using Adobe Photoshop Elements digital imaging software. Included will be explanations and lessons on basic digital imaging controls, tools, filters and layers. We will also cover downloading images from your camera and scanner, e-mailing, printing, computer and storage requirements, and image archiving and slide shows on CDs and DVDs.

The first part of class will be hands-on learning with sample photos and exercises and the 2nd half you will use these skills on your own digital photos. We will critique student projects weekly.

Spring Digital Photography Field Trip, Critique, and Digital Imaging
At the request of past students, I am offering this Intermediate Digital Photography Field Trip, sometime around the Fall Color days. It will consist of a local Field Trip to do Photography for a few hours on a Saturday and 4-5 follow-up sessions to critique your photos and to use Digital Imaging in the classroom to manipulate your images and burn them to a CD.
